Craft Bug

The craft bug has bitten me, and I kind of like it. I go through phases I guess. It seems when life slows down outside of the house, I decide to take on some crafts to keep me busy! :)

Kylee's having some girls over from her class tomorrow to celebrate the end of the year (more on that later), so I decided to put these little books I bought a few years ago to good use. They were just plain white, 8x8 books from Michaels I think.

I printed one for each girl. I found this idea on pinterest, using the black and white, and I thought maybe they could color it in themselves!

I won the bad sister of the year award last week for not coming through with a teacher card for my niece…. So I redeemed myself by making these little thank you cards for my other niece and nephew teachers, and Kylee's teacher. Hope I'm not in the hole anymore!! :)

I've started some travel books for Kylee, and the cousins for this summer, but I don't like the way they are going…. So, I'll post those when they are done!

Memorial Day 2015

We are thankful for the men and women who have died fighting for our country, so we may have freedom. We pray for healing on our land that it so desperately needs.

And these kiddos don't all the way understand what Memorial Day means. I love any chance we get to talk about America with the kids, and the reasons why we celebrate certain days of the year. They will grow up knowing they had Great Grandfathers who fought for our country, and by God's hand of protection, made it home safe. They also are learning that some kids don't get to have their dad's with them all the time because they have to go fight for our safety.  They always bring up our sweet friend, Madeline, and her dad.

It's on a small level they understand, but so important that it isn't forgotten.

These two wanted to be twins! I say they look pretty close! Lol!

Jason Turns 31

Jason turned 31 over Memorial Day! I made him a homemade german chocolate cake!

Taking our gifts and homemade cards to Daddy!!

A new razor (he requested), flip flops, a brush for the grill, and some yummy Popcorn from Mom and Popcorn in McKinney, TX!

Dr Report!

I picked Kylee up from school yesterday afternoon for her dr appt! Right when we got there, they called us straight back, and they CUT IT OFF!! They washed her arm up good.

You know how it feels after the cast is off. Kind of funny. She was kind of scared to use it. Then we did more x-rays, and the dr said it was healing very well. So we got to go the splint for 2 weeks! Take it off at bath time, swimming, and bed time!! Yay!

After that I needed a pedicure, so she ended up getting her toes painted too!! I always laugh when I take Kylee there, just because of the language barrier at the toe places. We both told the lady no flower because I didn't want to pay for it! Then she started doing the white paint for the flower on her big toes, and we both just looked at each other and laughed! Then she says, "See, pretty!" Ha!! But, the good thing is, they didn't charge me for them. I think they were bored since we were the only ones in there!!

Then we went to the library to get her an official card, so she can read books this summer!!

And while there we read her book she had for homework!

Then we ate supper at Schlotzky's and then headed to watch Addi's last volleyball game of the season!! They do so good!! Last year, not many could get it over the net on serving, but this year, they all get it over really good, and can actually volley it back and forth a few times!

Smartie Pants!!

Well, I don't know if we are really smartie pants, yet, but the young ones have been interested in doing some name work! Which came in handy, after Jason told me that he thought Maggie was behind. :(

But, after talking to some other 3 year old moms, I don't think she's behind at all!! Solved that problem! ha!

She loves doing this Doc McStuffins puzzle all by herself!!

She is doing pretty good at tracing her M and H for Maggie Holik!! Thank goodness it's just mostly straight lines!! *wink*

And Jaxon has come a long way in writing his name. He's been able to write the letters for a long while now, but they would just be UPSIDE DOWN and BACKWARDS!! How in the world does someone even do that?!! Or he would start anywhere on the page and just get the letters on there somewhere! And he would write the "N" as a "M"!! Obviously, I didn't correct it for a long time…

But here he is doing so good!! The "X" looks sort of like a "t"!! He's pretty proud of himself too!!

The Dollar Tree has these work books for $1!! So I bought some for the kids to work through this summer. Kylee will do the addition and subtraction books, and I also have printed out her summer reading challenge to keep on top of her reading!

Super Game Fun Time!

Sometimes it's fun to make your own game boards called, "Super Game Fun Time!"

Kylee and Jason printed and colored their own game board the other night!! They even added in things like, "go back 2 spaces, go back to start, and go to jail." With all those spaces, it was a hard game to win!

Such sweet memories made!!

Tractor Day

Today was Tractor Day!! The end of school has all sorts of fun things jam packed into it!!! These are some of the fun mom things I have looked forward to doing with the kids!!

I have a crazy/bad mom confession to make. I made Kylee a tractor shirt for Tractor Day! Oh man!!

She was super silly this morning.

We sat at cousin Ethan's house, and watched all them come by!! There was big ones, and little ones, old ones, and new ones! And only ONE red one!! :) I drove a red tractor my senior year, and still secretly like them! Don't tell Jason! *wink*

This guy loved it!! He told me he's going to drive the sprayer when he is a senior!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was great! Kylee made me the sweetest things at school, and her handprint poem made me cry! I've read that thing a bunch of times. I think I'm more emotional about the end of Kindergarten than I was at the beginning. :(

Saturday night Jason and the kids made me so cards. Jaxon made me a blue paper fan. Ha! And Kylee got into my "gift" stash, and they wanted to give me 2 candy bars, and a lip gloss! So sweet!

We went to church, and Kylee made me another hand print flower pot in Sunday School. The kids each brought me a rose during church. When we got in the car to leave, Kylee said "Mama, I really wanted to get another rose for your new baby." Is she not the sweetest thing ever!! It never crossed my mind to get another one for our new baby, so she ran back in and got one! Love her!

We ate lunch with Dad's extended family at GG's house. Ribs and chicken, and yummy desserts! It was a great day!

Mother's Brunch & More!

Saturday at church we again enjoyed the Mother's Day Brunch at our church. The girls got there own table, which worked great, and Maggie was the only that spilled her drink! :) I think she may always be the one to spill something. Lol! It's so nice to have GG come every year!

Then we hung with Jason's Mom on Saturday and the family!

Isn't she the cutest sno-cone eater ever?

Then, the kids convinced Popsie to get out the slip 'n slide!! They have been begging for a while now, so they had a blast!!

The guys made some ribs, and then we played a few rounds of croquet!!

Green Team

On Friday, the elementary participated in Field Day. It's really for the 1st-5th graders who have met certain AR goals throughout the year, but luckily the Kindergarten gets to participate anyways! Kylee's class was the green team!

Partner Relay Races! The bottom picture they had to squeeze the fake pig between them without holding it, and she laughed so hard! I just loved it!

They got to do bounce houses, and dress the teacher! The broken arm didn't slow her down at all!! In afternoon, they got ice cream cups and a DANCE Party!! I would have loved to have seen the kids at the dance party!

Fun end of school stuff!! This week they get to buy a son-cone on Wednesday, which she is super excited about! And next week they have Tractor Day! Yay!

Pictures through Kylee's Fractured Arm

Last Friday evening, while I was hosting a church Paint Party at my house, Kylee was with my Dad and Duane at their house. She fell off the monkey bars, and hurt her wrist. When she got to me, I felt her little arm and knew it wasn't good.

We went to the clinic, and with X-rays, they confirmed it was fractured, but not in the wrist. It was the radius, but real close to the wrist, and growth plates.

Tough girl wanted me to send this to Addi and Karter that night, when we got home!

On Saturday, we got our first son-cones of the season, at the best little place in town!! She was such a trooper!

She went to school Monday with her bandage, and got some ice cream for making it 'all day' with no complaints according to her teacher!

On Tuesday, we saw the orthopedic, and it was such a relief to hear, "it's not bad, and she should have no problems healing." That's good to hear! So, the hot pink cast it is!! And made it back to school to try and keep her perfect attendance award!! :)

Letting Them Go

We got invited to go to a birthday party at Mr. Gatti's a few weeks ago. The kids were OVER THE TOP excited! :) Maggie just followed in line with all the big kids! She's so cute!

Kylee's first time on the Bumper Cars! I remember playing on these same bumper cars at Project Graduation my senior year! Good times! They don't go very fast, but she didn't know that!

Then, she got invited to go home after school with a friend in her class, to play for a little while at her house. BREAK MY HEART! Y'all, I don't know what it is……  I was kind of nervous all day that day, just wondering about her after school, and her making it ok without me.

I want her to NEED ME! :( And she still does, but less and less….. It's sad. And a happy feeling at the same time. Parenting is hard; so many emotions involved. Jason tells me many times, "let her go on, and live her life."

GASP! What!?! She's only 6, not 16!! But, I think the process is starting, of her learning responsibility and trust, getting to do things without us…..

Anyways, they painted birdhouses while at the friends' house, but didn't quite finish them, so on Saturday morning, she let everyone help her finish! I love how Jason displayed it right in front of the house. She is proud of it, and she said, "Daddy made a little front porch for it!"

Night 4-Wheelin'

Our friend, Easton, has an awesome 4-wheeler like this one. We'll, I think Jason wanted to re-live his childhood, so he decided that we would go to Academy and just "look" at them. Yeah right! ;)

The kids are loving it right now, and Maggie even drives it. It's a little scary, but she makes it!

I feel a little safer with them in the wagon behind it, except Jaxon makes really sharp turns and nearly turns the wagon over! Eek!
