Turkey Day 2009 and More

Kylee with her Turkey shirt at Jason's parents. It's a common sight to see her standing by the back door because she always wants to go outside with the dogs. :)

We had lunch at Jason's parents on Thursday, and supper at my Grandmothers' house. We put up her Christmas tree that night for her, and Kylee broke at least three Christmas Ornaments.
I did manage to get most of all our decorations up this week!! But with Kylee's track record of breaking things, i have moved all the ornaments out of her reach. We will see how long that lasts!!
Playing with the Little People Nativity

We have more thanksgiving food to come on Sunday!!
How many of you did the Black Friday Shopping??? Last year, was my first year, and I really like the "hustle and bustle" and the competition it brings when you are looking for a particular item!! :)
My mom and I left the house around 5, which is really not early compared to the Old Navy shoppers at 3AM!!! Brianne met up with us around 9. Here is a least of the stores we hit up today:
Target
Walgreens
SONIC drink break!!
Tractor Supply
Family Christian
Hancocks (yes, only us would go to hancocks to get the 99C patterns, but they really did have good deals for our costumes for the Christmas Play)
Back to Target
Dillards
Old Navy
JC Penney
Chick-Fil-A
Dillards
Bath and Body Works
Bealls
Hobby Lobby
That was it!! Didn't even make it to WALMART!!
Don't really think we saved that much money but it is always fun!!

I am thankful for

14 MONTHS with Kylee!!

Well, she really won't be 14 months until Thursday, but I have a different post for that day!!
WOW!! Really has it been 14 months!! Here is what she is up to these days!!
- sleeps about 11 hours at night
- eats only big person food, such things as, peaches, corn, green beans, carrots, peas, grapes, pears, goldfish, and then whatever else we are eating. Really hasn't shown any signs of being picky YET!!

- tries to sprint real fast and her legs are so short she busts after about 3 steps and gets back up and does it again
- loves, loves, loves being around Addi and Karter
- shakes her head YES,and no
- sticks her tongue out thanks to 2 of the grandparents
- weighs 18 lbs. 14 oz.
- still uses the pacifier
- one nap a day usually about 1 1/2 to 2 hours
- climbs on everyting
- loves the bath time and tells the water, "Bye Bye" as I put the drain plug down
- likes to be in public and be social
- likes to throw fits in public
- got Roseola
- 11 teeth
- has NOT spent the night anywhere but at home
- loves being outside
- says a few words, and understands ALOT of what we say to her
- words that she says: Nigh-Nigh, Bye-Bye, ball, ma-ma, da-da, Josh, paw-paw (once)
- still cries EVERY single time we change clothes, seriously no exception
- size 3 diapers, size 3 shoes

I guess that is about it!! But I am truly, truly thankful for my baby girl!!

Walking the Halls of Wall

Tonight we went to the Wall Basketball Games!! It was a lot of fun, and brought back a lot of Great memories!! Decides the fact that I try to coach nearly every other play, I guess it is just in me for life no matter the occupation at the time, we had a good time!!
Kylee even enjoyed herself!! Coach Chitsey (my highschool coach and family friend) let her borrow his pen to write with!!

" Get out of my way Mom, I'm trying to watch the game!!"

Today, I am thankful for my 13 years at Wall School!! No, I am not going to tell you how great of school it was. But, I can tell you that my life was blessed tremendously in the time I had there!! The teachers and fellow classmates that impacted my life will always be close to my heart, and I count that as a Blessing from God!! From the elementary days in the school Christmas Plays, and learning to square dance with my classmates, to all the traveling we did together either in athletics, ag, or cheerleading!! I again count it all as a Blessing from God!!

As a parent and God willing, I look forward to be blessed by the memories that are yet to be made!!

ANGRY..

I am so mad at myself for not getting around to posting my THANKFUL post yesterday!! Man!! I just dropped the ball; with good reasons though!!

Today, I am thankful for being able to referree basketball games!! I know the outfit is pretty bad, but I do enjoy getting out of the house sometimes and I feel like I am connected with the school/basketball kids again!!
Tonight, I had only my 2nd game this year, but I am still enjoying it! I came home after the game, and Kylee just smiled and laughed at me; I think she was confused about what I was wearing with all the stripes and stuff. :)
And Jason, chanted "I'm blind, I"m deaf, I want to be a REF!!" :)

Day 10: Friends

This morning we are headed to a sweet, sweet friends baby shower in Wall. Susan is actually Jason's cousin down the line, but more than anything she is my friend too!!
This just really makes me think of how many great friends God has blessed me with throughout my life!!
I have childhood friends like the Garmons and the Reeds. What can I say, you guys are the best!!
I have high school friends like AMOS, Susan, Kysha, Skylar, and sooooooo many others, that I don't see or talk to all the time, but they will always have a place in my heart.
I have made church friends like Kelli, Amanda, Jaymie, Stephanie, Shanna, and all the new church friends we have. Ohhh, how I pray we stay friends forever!!
I have college friends from Phi Lamb like Jacque, Chelsey, Stacey, Holly, Kelly, Laura, Shaunna, Cassandra, Blair (who was my little sister :)), Michelle, Sarah, Beth and many, many more. I love the memories God has allowed me to make with you girls!!
This just makes me so HAPPY!! Thank you Lord for my friends!! Help me to be a friend to them!!
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when
he falls for he has no one to help him up.

Confirmed Case of......

Well, things are just rosey around here.....especially Kylee!!

We have a confirmed case of Roseollia!! Yep, went to the doctor this afternoon, and he said that is what it was. See, she had fever earlier in the week, and a runny nose. I just attributed both to getting new teeth!! On Wednesday, fever went away; then Thursday morning woke up, broke out in a rash, only on her trunk, which is the tell tell sign, of Roseolla. Rash was still there this morning, so we decided to take her in, and sure enough he confirmed it. Basically, he said "Every child gets it befor the age of 5, some get the fever and never get the rash, so it is never confirmed, but that Every child gets it." So, there we are right in the norm of things!!

The BIG news was she weighs, "18 LBS. 14 OZ."!! She gained over 2 LBS in less than two months!!
But, trying to keep her happy in the office for 45 minutes is very difficult.

And, I got this new bag from "Thirty-One Gifts". It is a thermal bag for bottles!! I really like it!!

Flights for the Ninth

I am thankful for connecting flights!! Jason's sister, Haley, is coming home on the airplane as we speak!! All flights were connected, which is nearly a miracle, especially since she was taking the last flight from Chicago to Dallas!! Praise the Lord!!

We can't wait to see Aunt Haley!!

Day 8: Thinking???

You have no idea how hard it is to consciously find things to be thankful for; yeah, I know the things like house, food, health, and family. I've done some of those, and I still might do the rest later, but I am trying to think of things that aren't always right there at the top of your head when you start to think of things.
So, as I sit here thinking, making myself do this blog thing today, I decided I am thankful that I can ThINK. I know; how simple is that.
But THINK about it.....
It’s not your brain that’s hurting when you get a headache – without pain receptors, your brain can’t feel any pain.

Your brain knows when you tickle yourself, which is why you don’t bend over laughing.

When you sleep, you’re virtually paralyzed because your brain creates a hormone to prevent you from acting out your dreams.

About 12% of people dream in black and white.
The brain is an amazing organ, thinking tool, very powerful, and really it's workings are unexplainable....well, for humans it is unexplainble, not to the ONE who created it!!
Anyways, I am thankful that I sit here and am able to THINK!! What a wonderful gift!!

UPDATED: Learning to Write.....It's a Process

Today, I am thankful for the ability to LEARN!! Isn't it great!! Learning new things is wonderful!! We are so blessed that Kylee has shown the ability to learn and grasp new concepts!!! She continues to amaze us. There are so many children who struggle mentally or physically with learning!!
But I am persuaded that EVERYONE can learn; it may just be on a very, very young level. We have a young boy who comes to church, and he cannot read because of developmental problems, so he memorizes everything, and learns it that way!! He is amazing to watch!!
Anyways, that's it for today!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting it all lined up!!

It helps if you look at the paper, sweetie!

It's too hard; I can't do it!!

Maybe if I stare at it real close.....

Dr. Pepper

Today, I am SOOOOOO Thankful for DR. PEPPPER!!! Like seriously!! Whoever made Dr. Pepper, I just love them!!

Day 5: My Sister

I have got to get this post in TODAY!! This was supposed to be my easiest day to think of something to be thankful for!! :)
Today is my one, and only sister's Birthday!! Happy Birthday Brianne!!

So in honor of Brianne's birthday I made her this 6 LAYER Rainbow Cake for Bunco tonight!! It really doesn't look very pretty!!
I am so thankful God gave me a sister because he gave me my best friend for life.
He made her exactly what I needed in a friend!! We are definitely opposites on most things!! But there is a lot in common too!! So much in common that we talk on the phone every morning (She is the only one I would let wake me up every morning on her way to work), sometimes we talk mid morning, always at lunch, and then again after work, all the while shooting each other emails throughout the day!! Love it!!
I seriously wish I was better with words!! I just can't explain my love and thankfulness for Brianne good enough!!
Oh, how I love her!!

Day 4: Church

Today, is Sunday. The day to stop what you are doing, put aside your busy schedule, your dirty house, the work that still needs to be done..... and go to church. God designed the Sabbath to be a day of rest for us; OOOHHHH, how nice that is!! To be able to freely gather with believers, who all worship and love the same, holy, and living GOD!! How great!! And to worship along side your husband, your family, your life long friends, and all your new friends!! How great!!
Today, I am SOOOOOO Thankful for our church!! They people there are my friends, and I love them!!

Day 3: JJ HOLIK FARMS

Today, I am thankful for JJ Holiks Farms!! Kylee and I went and took pictures in the cotton yesterday!! It's always a blessing to get to do that because the cotton some years isn't very good!! Even in the bad years Jason, and his brother (Josh), manage to get all they can out of their land!! Jason is very blessed to be able to partner with his brother in all of the farming. Hence, the name JJ Holiks Farms. There are times, they don't get along and argue, and still wrestle in the living room like they did when they were 10, but they really are best friends!!

But, obviously it didn't all start with Jason and Josh; we are truly blessed by the past generations starting with Jason's parents' and grandparents. They all worked very hard and put many hours into cleaning up the land, so now there isn't as many weeds. Also, able to buy land that now is passed down to us. It is truly an example of "generational blessings." I pray we will be able to do the same.

Driving

The Operation at Work!!

That is really BIG!!

I always say the "S" on the end of Holiks is for Shyanne. They deny it!! :)

Don't Miss Kylee; she is in the picture!!

Thank you Lord for the JJ Holiks Farms Farming Operation!!

2 People for Day 2

Today I am thankful for two people I call Mama and Daddy....

I thought today was a good day to be thankful for them because it is my dad's birthday, and how can I possibly think about Dad and not about Mom; they go TOGETHER; always have, always will!!

They have influenced my life more than anyone in the world. That's kind of obvious since they are parents and all, but seriously, they could have influenced me in a bad way, but they *chose to raise us in a Godly home. And for that I am ever grateful.

*Joshua 24:15 "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

They taught me to love the Lord, to be grateful that I had a sister (someone to play with), to be grateful that I had a bed to sleep in, and my OWN room, to enjoy the blessings I have and not wanting more, to honor them as mom and dad, to go to church, to work hard on whatever it is, to love to learn new things, and to find enjoyment in being able to help others.

And now more than ever I am thankful for the lessons they taught, for now I have a very important someone to teach the same lessons too!! What a great thing!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Giving Thanks

From now til Thanksgiving, everyday I am going to post about what I am thankful for. That is 15 days. I encourage you to play along.

Today, I am thankful for Jason, who works hard for Kylee and I. Very giving of his time. I love him!
These were taken on our 3rd anniversary and I never posted them.

Just to fill you in......

on what has been going on in our world......
jason has been busy stripping cotton, and then shredding and discing, all the things you do after you strip!!
AWANA is going incredibly well......we had 21 kids last Wednesday....that is awesome for us!! now, if i could just get me self together and get organized. most of you i am a rather organized person, but for some reason i can not stay on top of everything. i really don't think it is to bad, but i just feel like every time i'm at church i am running around like a crazy woman.....
oh that could be because brianne nominated me to head up the chilren's christmas program this year....so that i am doing.... i am really enjoying it and the kids are doing good... i think it is going to be called "The Glorious Impossible" based on this song
kylee now kicks a ball....yes, she is only 13 1/2 months old,but she lifts her little "right" foot and purposely kicks the ball....and we all clap and smile at her....and she giggles and does it over and over because she LOVES the attention.....what a little ham......she also has been quite a little TOOT lately....throwing her fits in public because she wants to dip her french fry in ketchup and hanging on the drawer to the changing table and it breaking TWICE, making daddy having to fix it TWICE....and getting lots of spankings in between.....but every night she is in her bed sleeping and we both go check on her numerous times, we both leave the room smilng from ear to ear telling the other one "I love her so much!!".........how can we say the same thing about her every night......because it so true!!!
in the process of odering christmas cards....our pictures are online and look great....SO EXCITED!!
and last but not least i am a very proud AUNT......Addisyn knows her line for the Christmas play.....she is an angel along with 5 others, and she is 3 and she knows her line before everyone else.....now if everyone else had a good mommy like she does to help her practice.....she says "Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth, peace, and goodwill toward men!!"
Way to Go Addi!! I am so proud!! And Karter has been practicing "BAAA" because he is a sheep along with Kylee, and another little girl!!
that's it for now...promise pictures next time i post!!!

We had a great Halloween and of course got way to many treats and sweets that we DONT need to eat this time of year!!
We also had family pictures taken this morning for our Christmas card; can't wait to see how they turned out!!!
