Fun Day

On Wednesday, we met at the beach to end our Preschool Class at the Library. Kylee has had a good time there; we've been going for 2 years!! But time to move on, as a bunch of these little girls will be starting Kindergarten in the fall! Two of them will be in her same school!

They loved digging in the sand, and Jaxon was pretty content too!! Don't think to much sand got in the cast! :)

We ate a picnic lunch on the beach, and then headed to the Nature Center. This was our first time to ever go! Yikes!

Of course, the kids loved it, and pretty much wanted to touch everything. Except I would not let them touch the bull snake they brought out! And, we went into the room with the 16 foot python, and let's just say this mama is hoping we don't have to go to any birthday parties there!! :)

Jason turns 30

Jason turned 30 on Sunday!! Crazy!! I still feel like we are young pups, like somewhere in our early 20's, even though I will be turning the big 3-0 this year too!!

On Saturday, we had a few of the Holik cousins over. Nothing to big! I wanted to have his favorite dessert which is pie. So, I had each of us make his favorite pie: his mom made a Blackberry Pie, my mom made a Kentucky Derby Pie, and I made an Apple Pie. He tried all of them, and was a happy man! :)

He was probably such a happy man because of all the rain!

I truly am thankful for "who" Jason is. I've never met someone who speaks the truth like he does. Whether it be about my hair style or the way food tastes, he is truthful.

The most credit about "who" he is goes to his upbringing by his parents and the godly influence they still have on his life.

Happy 30th Birthday!

Braids

My first attempt at real braids. I need a little more practice... :)

Can I get an AMEN?

It rained this weekend, and rained, and rained!

This is across from our house!

This is like such a "VISUAL" answer to prayers from our city. Like right before our eyes, the lakes are filling up, the dry ground is soaked. Love how the Lord works among us.

And this really helps Jason with some farming decisions of "are we even going to spend the money to plant cotton since it's so dry?" Now, the answer is clear, and there is a slimmer of hope you might can actually make a good crop this year, if there is another rain come July/August. So praise the Lord for clear direction!

Mary and Martha

On Saturday morning, Brianne had a "Mary and Martha" party; they just built a house and finished right before us, so it was fun to see all the pretty things to buy and see her pretty house!!

And the food wasn't to bad either!!

Big Blue Cast

Jaxon hanging out before the cast! When we went back last Friday, that splint was all ruffled up and dirty! He's a silly boy!

Waiting to get the cast on...., and then waiting to get an xray after the cast was put on! Still happy as can be!

I cried silent tears when they were wrapping the blue cast on. I don't know why. I was fine. I was sitting their taking it all in, and then all of sudden I had tears on my face. I think it became real that my baby boy broke his leg......

Jason drew a little boy on his cast representing Jaxon;he is holding a gun shooting a monster! We went back for a checkup yesterday, and everything is good. Go back next week.

He is really handling like a champ. The first night he had it on, he quietly told me he was tired of it. It broke my heart.

He does really good during the day; he just scoots around, Kylee carries him on her back, or I come and carry him where he wants to go. He usually doesn't complain about it during the day. He goes where he always went, and has gotten DIRTY! But, I like that sort of!

He's been waking up every night, nearly. I think it's because he has to go the bathroom, and he needs help getting there. It's hard waking up every night when you haven't done that in a couple years.

Overall, he's been a trooper!!

Updated: My Broken Heart

My heart is broken for Jaxon and his leg.

It's going to be a rough few weeks; nothing that he asked for or wanted. I think that's what hurts me, is he wasn't even doing one of his silly, crazy tricks! It was just an accident. He already wants the splint off; he pulls at it, unrolls the wrap, and cries because it itches. And, I can't blame him. On Friday, we will get the cast on. He is requesting blue!

We will survive. There are much worse things in life.

His leg will mend a lot faster than my heart.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The medical side of it:

This is the same injury from when he fell off the golf cart on Saturday. When I took him in on Saturday, they only x-rayed the foot/ankle. At that moment, something inside of me thought there might be something wrong with his lower leg, but I didn't say anything. That motherly instinct knows best!

His been in good spirits the whole time, but after Sunday and Monday came with no improvement with him putting weight on that leg, and then Monday night he woke up in the night crying because it was hurting him, I made up my mind to take him in Tuesday to get that lower leg x-rayed, just to give my mind ease. But, sure enough it was fractured. I started to cry when I saw it in the x-ray room. I told Jaxon I was sad for him, and he said "I don't care." Ha! He doesn't get it.

Or maybe I should take his attitude on about this whole thing! Children are so resilient.

It is a non-displaced spiral fracture of the left tibia, and a grassline fracture of the fibula. Words and terms I wished I never knew, but it's in his baby book, and I'm resting in the knowledge that God has had Jaxon's life planned out from before time began. Praise be to God!

Engineering a Zip-Line

We have some engineers on our hands or maybe just six crazy kids!

Actually I thought it was pretty awesome what they came up with!

The teether ball string was caught way up in the tree at my parents house. They got one of Dad's ropes and tied it to the teether ball and strung it across to the basketball goal and tied it off.

Then they rolled the big plastic cube that they play on over to the teether ball pole, so they could climb up on it, and it would be high enough to get them up to the top of the teether ball pole. Then they found an old towel.

So Mom is watching them thinking what are they going to do with this towel. They threw it over the rope, and we're going to hold on to the towel, and zip line down this rope. Ha!!

Well, the only one that would do it, was Jaxon!! Don't know if it's because he was the lightest one, or probably because he has no fear!

That took some thinking and problem solving skills!

Mother's Day

You know sometimes, or A LOT of times, life doesn't pan out like we want or expect it to. That's what seemed to happen this Mother's Day. I dreamed of taking a picture with my cute dressed kids, and peacefully going to church together, and enjoying the day with no hiccups, no crying....... Ugh no, what world was I living in.... Must have been my dreams!

Saturday morning the girls and I went to the Mother's Day Brunch at our church, which was amazing, and the food was delicious, and a sweet friend shared part of her testimony, which was so encouraging. It was over, and I noticed a lot of missed calls from Jason, turns out, Jaxon was riding the golf cart with Popsie, and he fell off, and the golf cart ran over his foot. He was in good spirits, just would not walk on it. I get there, and after a little bit decide to go get X-rays. Sweet boy, couldn't decide if he was happy or sad.

Luckily, Praise God, nothing was broken. But, it is sore. So, he will NOT walk on it. He will stand. It doesn't even look that swollen today even, I think most of it is, he has never felt pain before like that, and something that we as adults could walk off, he is just scared to try. So, like I said not quite like my Mother's Day had planned out in my head!

Sunday was good.  Didn't get a picture of me and kids until 10pm that night! Ha! Church was good with my family and lunch was good.  That afternoon, I did laundry, Jason did the dishes, and I snuck in a nap! In the afternoon, we went to Jason's parents, and walked on stilts, ate steaks, talked about wedding stuff (Jason's brother is getting married), and made it home about 8:30.

After we got home, Jason and Kylee decided that maybe they should get me something for Mother's Day. So, they went to the only place open, Walmart! And brought home a new bike and a purple cup!

And, I got my picture with the kiddos!!

State Track

Kylee went on a trip with my parents, and cousin Lexi to the State Track Meet in Austin!

These two crack me up. The whole way down there, and basically the entire trip now, Lexi has talked. Or so they tell us. She is never quiet. Kylee is nearly ALWAYS quiet!! So, it's a great friendship!

But, Lexi kept telling Kylee, "this is the BEST sleepover EVER!", and Kylee would say "it's NOT a sleepover!"

They got to swim at the hotel, go to the Wall baseball game in Burnet, shop a little, and eat good food with Dad! Ha!

Kylee at the State Track Meet 5 YEARS ago (with Addi) She still looks the same; just a little darker!

Ready for her to be home, so I can carry her to bed!

Thankful for parents that enjoy taking their grandkids around!

Sprinkler System

Putting in a sprinkler system is hard work, and I'm not the one doing it!

Jason has spent hours figuring out the master plan. He has gone to All-Tex twice a day somedays, has talked to them for literally hours over the past month; four hours in one day! Just trying to soak in as much "free" information as possible on how to draw out where the sprinkler heads should go, what kind of head to put on it, how far each should spray as to leave no grass unwatered leaving a brown spot and to not spray any windows.

So, after working on this plan a.l.l.d.a.y Monday he finished! Color Coordinated and everything!

Josh helped him today get started on the ditching, and laying the pipe. But, before all that the guys at All-tex recommended doing a pressure test to make sure it would work by the time it got all the way around the house. Sure enough it does! Yay for that!

They got part of the back yard done. Lots left to do. :)

The grass will have 6 zones all controlled in a green box. And a large controller in the garage. Once you turn it on, it will automatically switch to the next zone. It will take 6 hours to water the whole yard with 1/2 an inch. The plan is to turn it on at night, and let it run!

The work will be worth it in the end, and I'm sure Jason is thankful for a good brother!

Game Night

Game Night seems to be the fun thing to do these days... Nothing is good on basic TV! :)

Maggie's new favorite thing to do is get a game out of the closet and dump it out; I would not allow this, but she can keep herself entertained for a good 30 minutes on one game. Sigh... so I let her do it! And, then we have a very stubborn, drag out of having to "pick up the game before you get another one out". She cracks me up!

First Swim of the Summer

The kids were begging me to swim today; starting at 9 this morning! It's like they knew it was going to be a great day for it with the weather nearly in the 100 degrees.

Around 4, it was finally full enough, so Kylee drove us down to the tank in the golf cart. The water was a little cold coming fresh out of the ground, but they loved it. Maggie went under a couple times, and she does NOT know how to hold her breath, so she liked hanging out in the red boat. And the water isn't dirty; the bottom just needs to be re-painted! But, in all honestly, the kids wouldn't care if it was dirty!! Kylee tried her hand at the boogie board! Seeing that we have no yard, we might be over at the "pool" more often!

Summer is here!!

Look Who's Driving Now!?

She asked Popsie if she could drive the golf cart around a few days ago, and he said yeah, not thinking really she would be able to do it!

It cracks me up! She has plenty of land to practice driving around on, and she's actually pretty good! She knows how to turn and then straighten it out!

Her friends won't believe the things she tells them!! Ha!

Last Week

We flew kites at the house; Jaxon a kite flyin' fool!! He loves it, and his always goes the highest and stays up the longest! :)

And, we did a lot of manual labor "landscaping"! Hopefully we can get grass in the next couple weeks!
