adj. Having no motive or incentive

That is the defintion for unmotivated!! It has been over a week, and I haven't posted anything, so this should be a LLLOOOONNNNGGGG post.
- My coaching friend and I went to Dallas last Thursday for the All-Star Basketball Game Thursday night. We woke up Friday morning and headed to Frisco to SAM MOON and the mall. We spent 2 hours in Sam Moon and I got a lot of cute stuff. Some necklaces, earrings, a bag for the baby, a purse for me, and a whole strand of baby bows!!! I was really excited about those.
- The family left Saturday morning, and headed to Lake Buchanan for the weekend of vacation. It was all of what I expected. The cabins we stayed in were unexpectedly nice. The swimming pool kept us plenty cool, and of course, what is vacation without great food. And we had plenty of that. We came back on Monday.

Jason and Addi swinging.

The pregnant belly.

This is one of the things Addi is learning to do at swimming lessons. Jumping off the side. I remember doing that over and over again when I was little.

And then swimming back to the side to do it again!!

Karter sat on the steps and played with his toys. He loved the water.

Brianne and Karter. He is a "MAMA'S BOY"!!

Nothing better than Paw-Paw Kisses!!

- Last week, I didn't really do alot hence the title of the post. I did help mom with the baby bedding some. She has finished the bed skirt, and is starting on the bumper bad. Very exciting. I can't wait to post pictures.

- We did officialy decide on the name. It is Kylee Shae Holik!! I like it a lot and am happy with it.

- This past Saturday, July 19th, Karter (my nephew) turned ONE!! They had a birthday party for him. I will post pictures of that later.

That it's for now!! Enjoy!

STILL a girl!!!

We had the 3D Sonogram today. It was amazing!! And she is still a little girl!! First, I will tell you the order of events at the Dr. Appointment.

- Had to drink the horrible stuff to test for Gestational Diabetes!! It was absolutely HORRIBLE!! It was the orange drink, and it is just really thick and sweet. You have 5 minutes to drink the whole cup, if not you have to start over. I really should just have stopped drinking because every time I stopped, I would gag from the smell and taste in my mouth. Then Jason is like you only have 1 minute left with 1/2 a cup still. So I had to drink really fast, which was probably what I should have been doing the whole time. Anyways, overall I think it was really bad.

- We did the 3D sonogram. It was so awesome. First of all, she said all the organs are perfect and she is growing good. She weighs 2 lbs. 9 oz. right now; so the sonogram lady said she suspects a 7 lb to 7 1/2 lb baby in the end!! Exciting!! I don't really know if that is big or not. I think average. We could really only get profile shots of her, and she always had her hands right in front of her face. I asked if she had hair that she could tell, and she said a little!! Here are some pictures!!

She was opening and closing her eyes and mouth!! Already TALKING, just like her mama!!

She reached down and was grabbing her toes. So cute!!

We had a wonderful weekend!! It was great, and of course I ate way to much. And the bad news is I have a doctor's appointment TOMORROW!! I hope the weight gain isn't to much.

*But also at the doctor appointment we get to do the 3D Sonogram. I am really excited. Jason will be there, and his mom and sister are coming to see because Haley will probably be in Chicago when the baby comes and won't get to be here for it. Also Brianne is coming, and my mom would come, but she is out of town. I also have to drink the nasty drink stuff, and do blood work, so it will be an eventful doctor's appointment!! Hopefully, I can scan the sonogram pictures in. Most of all pray that everything is healthy with the baby.

*The baby name is being tossed up in the air again. We are going back to the 2 that we like. We really can't decide. It is for sure K____ Shae Holik!!! But we don't know if it is Kiley or Kinley. And I really don't know about the spellings yet.

*I am going to Arlington on Thursday with the basketball coach from Christoval. There is a high school All-Star Game Thursday night, and there is a Christoval girl playing and a Wall girl playing in it. Mom is going to be at the game as well, so we will go watch that. And then Friday morning, Coach Greenway and I will go shopping a little bit in Frisco. We are going to Sam Moon, and the mall. I am so excited about Sam Moon. If you have never been to one, you need to find one and go to it.

*On Saturday, the whole family is leaving to go to Lake BUCHANAN!!!

Happy 4th of JULY!!!

I absolutely love this holiday!! Family and friends come in from all over. And there is good food and good company to be had by everyone!! Our 4th of July Plans:

- In the morning, we will do the 2nd Annual Wall 4th of July Parade. The Halfmann's (which is my maiden name) had a float last year. And we won first place. We have a float again this year, but I don't know if it will win anything. I think the competition will be a lot stiffer.

-For lunch, I will meet Jason at Veribest Park for the Holik Get Together. Every year about
40 - 50 Holik's get together and have lunch, play a little softball, or any other game that happens to gain some interest.

- For the Fireworks show, we will be heading to Lake Nasworthy. I am so excited. When I was little they always did a AWESOME fireworks show, but for some reason they have not done any the past years. But this year they are having them again. My aunt lives on the lake, so we will watch them from her house. And of course eat and swim a little while we are there!!

But I will not forget the reason we celebrate all of this!! It is the best thing in the world to say you live in AMERICA!! Thanks to all the men and women in uniform who have in the past and now present who are fighting for our rights and freedoms as Americans!!! Thank You!!

And I last but certainly not least I wanted to post this story. It is a true story, and I have to say it is well worth your reading!! PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ!!
It is a story told by Senator John McCain telling about one of the fellow prisoners while they were imprisoned during the Vietnam War.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room. This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home.

One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian. Mike came from a small town near Selma, Alabama. He didn't wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old. At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School. Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967. Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country-and our military-provide for people who want to work and want to succeed.

As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing. Mike got himself a bamboo needle. Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed on the inside of his shirt. Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike's shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance. I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell it was indeed the most important and meaningful event.

One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike's shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it. That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours. Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up as well as we could. The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept. Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room. As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag. He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to pledge allegiance to our flag and our country.

So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world. You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Kiley Shae Holik

We think that is the name of our baby girl!! Really picking baby names is not as easy as you think. And once you agree on the name, you have to agree on how to spell it. It really is more of an agrument. But we both have agreed on this one. I really don't think we will change our minds!! Hopefully we won't!!
