DC Day Three

Day 3 and rocking' it for 4th of July!!

There was this cute old fire station across from our hotel.

Our hotel had these nice escalators!

Kylee rode them any chance she could get to do it over and over again!!

These guys were standing outside our hotel on the 4th! Loved the guy in the suit! :)

This was our last day in DC and we decided to hit up the Natural History Museum  and the Air and Space Museum.

Natural History Museum was good for kids, with lots of things for them to see. It was also full of a bunch of evolution; luckily Kylee can't read all that and didn't care too.

The Hope Diamond! 45 Carats!

Aunt Hay Hay paid for Kylee to go into the Butterfly room, and Melissa and I tagged along. It was actually really cool!!

Butterflies of every color!

Right outside the museum was the parade coming down Constititution Ave!

And we walked outside just in time to see this really big "chicken" as Kylee exclaimed, and these oriental ladies next to us laughed, and started talking about her! Ha!

Then we trekked across to the Air and Space Musuem and had to wait in a really long line outside to get in.

But, Kylee passed the time by looking cool! When did she get so grown up??

The Air and Space Museum was neat. We went inside a cock-pit of a jet airplane, and Kylee went inside a 'real' rocket!

There is a lot of informative things that might be good for older elementary aged kids. Just a little to much information for her to retain it all!

We hiked back across town to eat lunch, and we came upon this! Mexican!!

Kylee got the biggest Root Beer Float ever!!

Sweet Aunt Melissa! Great roommate and traveling buddy for us! Maybe we can do it again in a few years!! ;)

We went back to the hotels and rested up for the fireworks that night.

With Melissa and I both pregnant, I thought it was funny we sat on the lawn in front of the Department of Labor building! And always keeping it real classy with our trash bags to sit on!

America's Sweet Heart with the Washington Monument behind her!

The fireworks were what you would guess as AMAZING!! Just so big and non-stop!

Our flight leaving DC was super early; we had to get up at 4:45!! Poor Kylee was exhausted, but she slept the whole first flight back to DFW!

DC was amazing! We couldn't get everything we wanted to do in the few days we were there, just because there is so much to do! But, I hope I can remember the things I saw! Lol! Kylee was a trooper! She is really great with flying, walking miles, waiting, eating wherever, being away from home! You name she did really great!

So great Mimi bought her a cool tie-dye tshirt!!

DC Day Two

DC day 2 was good! We hopped on the Old Town Trolley Tours again, which is great because it allows you to see a lot of the city, only getting off when you want to.

Our first stop on Friday was the National Cathedral.

It was so big and beautiful! Kylee is standing in the pink on the front steps there!

The Vice Presidents Home is secluded behind all these trees. This is also where the National Clock is. It was on the street next to where you drive in for the VP house.

The trees are beautiful here. Everything just grows easy with the rain they get. Trees and flowers everywhere.

In front of the White House! And there really is a sniper on the room! ;)

We just passed by Ford's Theatre!

Lunch at Harry's Bar!

We wanted to do the DC Duck Tours, but all the tickets were sold out, so we opted for these cute little paddle boats, with great views of the Washington Monument and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

Rhonda and Lydia!

Quick Ice Cream Break After the Paddle Boats

Then we headed to see the inside of the Jefferson Memorial. There Kylee is by the pillar! It was so tall!! But everything there is so TALL!! Ha!

We caught a taxi to "M" street to get a famous DC cupcake! Well the line was out the door, and down the street. So, we opted for something else.

But, the streets in Georgetown were so pretty!! These flowers were on every light pole, and the shops were so cute!

We got some really good looking pies at Pie Sisters!

Although, its sad to say we never got a chance to eat them before we left! :( I can imagine they were really good though!

We ate at Legal Seafood for supper. It was delicious! And a tad bit fancy, but they said we looked fine to eat there, so that was good!!

And I ended the day getting to see a sweet, friend from TX!! It was so good for my soul to see her!! Teresa is such an amazing woman! TX needs her back!!

DC - Day 1

Back in May Jason's sister got an internship at the nations capitol, and when Mimi asked if we wanted to go visit her, we jumped on board! It was a great trip; fast and furious because the city is so big, but was really enjoyable!!

Somebody's a little excited!! She did great the whole trip. Had a little melt down one day, but that's not to bad! She's a great one to travel with!

We rode a 15 minute taxi ride to our hotel, checked in, and then went to Haley's apartment, just a couple blocks up from our hotel!

We were hungry so we walked the streets through Chinatown, to Panera Bread!

FBI Military Police Vehicle

After supper, we went to Union Station to get ready to board our trolley tour bus!

Union Station is HUGE!! They said 80,000 people pass through here a day!!

A statue of Christopher Columbus is out front (failed to get a picture).

Pretty view of the US Capitol from the front of Union Station

Freedom Bell is also in the front of Union Station. Similar to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, only larger and doesn't have the crack.

We boarded our trolley bus, which took us around to some great cites the first night we were there!

Capitol. Has scaffolding all around the top for repairs.

US Supreme Court

Right next to it, the National Library with statues of 3 greek gods in front.

Good view of the Washington Monument. It could be seen nearly all around the city.

Then we went to the US Marine Memorial. It was very neat to see.

Last stop of our first night was at the Lincoln Memorial. I loved this one!! So huge!!

We had a great first day!!!
