I hosted Bunco at my house last Thursday, and wanted to do a Valentine theme. Honestly, I didn't want to do to much, and couldn't get my ideas going really well because I am pretty occupied with Maggie's party and some other stuff.
Checking out myblessedlife.net, I came across some pretty hearts to make, which I thought would be pretty behind my table. I ended up just hanging them around the house, but I am enjoying them.
The Difficult Heart
This burlap heart was a pain in the rear, and took probably 3 hours to do. The first day I started it I only finished about 1/4 of it, and decided that I probably wouldn't even finish the rest, but then the kids were gone one afternoon and I got after and finished it!!
You can find the directions here, but basically you cut 2 1/2 inch squares out of burlap. Fold them in half diagonally and then half again. Put ALOT of hot glue on the point and glue it the wreath.
My problems were, they would not stay folded when I glued them to the wreath, but I think in the end, it didn't matter.
The Super Easy Heart
This heart is a ruffled satin heart. You can find the directions here. She ruffled her own satin, and I didn't want to do that. I remembered that I had bought this piece of satin at Hobby Lobby, which ended up working perfectly. All you do is wrap the satin around and glue. EASY PEASY!!
The FUN Heart

This heart was so fun to make. I love these burlap door hangers, and I searched on etsy, and got some inspiration. You all know I am in love with the chevron, and I was so excited when Hobby Lobby had the red chevron in the store!! I had only heard of painting the door hangers, but the fabric looks great too!!
Directions
1. Trace and cut one heart out of fabric
2. Trace and cut 2 hearts out of burlap (slightly larger than the fabric heart)
3. Sew the fabric heart to ONE piece of the burlap; leaving as much edge as you desire when stitching
3. Sew the fabric heart to ONE piece of the burlap; leaving as much edge as you desire when stitching
4. Place both pieces of burlap together, and sew around the edge leaving some overhang. Be sure to leave an opening in the top.
5. Stuff with plastic bags or batting.
6. Pinch the top shut, and finishing sewing it closed.
7. Hot glue a piece of wire to back for your hanger.
8. Add ribbons!!
Bunco was fun, with I have to say, some really good food.
Grilled Chicken Pasta Salad, Chocolate Cupcakes, Dipped Strawberries, and some good punch!! Yum!!
